Richard T. Walker – this, as it isn't

noviembre 2022 – enero, 2023

this, as it isn’t explores our futile yet underlying obsession to create connections between the world of thought and the world of “the real”. What lies when thoughts or actions are neither? How does one create an aesthetic representation of melancholy? British born Richard T. Walker proposes a very intimate attempt at confronting these issues with the American west as his main stage.

Works like between the sky and us (reprise) appear to challenge any notion of distance, whether close or far, through a continuous play of representation and re representation within a same image. Perspective is used as a malleable resource attempting to recall and challenge one’s own experience when confronted with the magnitude of the outdoors.

Overall, there is an overwhelming intimacy permeating through the works that proposes a melancholic search for meaning that only finds resolution in the act of trying.

this, as it isn’t  is, in its core, an existential examination of purpose and belonging. A personal and intimate look at T. Walker’s personal quest for meaning.
