the predicament of always (as it is) and the predicament of always (as we are) are diegetic soundtracks taken from two video works with the same titles. Small rocks are heard being thrown at various instruments in the desert landscape.

the predicament of always (as it is) was originally exhibited at The Contemporary Austin, Texas, and the predicament of always (as we are) was exhibited concurrently at ASU Art Museum, Tempe, Arizona, September 2014 through January 2015. The footage for both works was recorded in remote locations between Austin and Phoenix.
